How to Bet Online in Wyoming
Everything a new Wyoming bettor needs to go from "I'd like to try this" to "my first bet is live" in under 15 minutes. Legal since September 1, 2021, minimum age 18, must be physically located in Wyoming.
Before you start, the five things to know
- You must be 18+. Wyoming's legal betting age is 18, set by HB 133. See our age requirements page.
- You must be physically in Wyoming. Residency is not required, but geolocation will check your device. See geolocation rules.
- You'll need a valid government ID and your SSN last four digits. Every licensed operator runs mandatory KYC at signup.
- There are no retail sportsbooks in Wyoming. All betting happens through one of five licensed apps.
- Only bet what you can afford to lose. Set deposit and loss limits at signup, it's easier to be disciplined before you make the first deposit than after.
Step 1, Pick a sportsbook
Wyoming has five licensed operators. Our short take:
- Default pick: DraftKings, best overall, easiest app, most markets.
- Best for same-game parlays: FanDuel.
- Best loss protection: BetMGM, up to $1,500.
- Best for Vegas loyalty: Caesars.
- Best for merch rewards: Fanatics.
Most Wyoming bettors eventually hold 2-3 accounts to line-shop. Pick one to start.
Step 2, Download the app and register
Search your sportsbook in the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. Install, open, tap "Sign Up." You'll provide:
- Full legal name
- Date of birth (must show 18+)
- Physical address in Wyoming (for verification, you can still bet as a visitor, but you need a real address on file)
- Email and phone number
- Last four digits of your Social Security Number
- A password
Registration itself takes 2-3 minutes. Use your real name and address, KYC mismatches cause withdrawal problems later.
Step 3, Pass identity verification (KYC)
After you submit registration, the book runs an automated KYC check against public records. Most Wyoming users pass in under 30 seconds. If you don't, you'll be asked to upload:
- A photo of a valid government-issued ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID).
- Optionally, a utility bill or bank statement showing your Wyoming address.
Manual review usually resolves within 24 hours.
Step 4, Enable location services
The app will prompt you to enable precise location. You must allow this, the book uses GeoComply geolocation to confirm you're inside Wyoming before accepting any wager. If you're on a desktop browser, the book may also require a location plugin. VPNs and location spoofers will trigger a block and may result in account suspension.
Step 5, Make your first deposit
Every Wyoming sportsbook accepts:
- Debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover), instant but highest rejection rate
- Online banking via VIP Preferred, instant, highest approval rate
- PayPal, instant, lowest fees, fastest withdrawals
- Venmo (FanDuel only), instant
- ACH bank transfer, 1-3 days
- Play+ prepaid cards, instant
PayPal is our default recommendation for first-time deposits. Full details on the Wyoming payments page.
Step 6, Claim your welcome bonus
Enter any promo code during deposit (or triggered automatically for most WY offers). Read the terms before placing the qualifying wager, minimum odds, bonus bet expiration (typically 7 days), and which markets qualify vary by book. See the full Wyoming bonuses comparison.
Step 7, Place your first bet
Navigate to the sport you want to bet (NFL, Broncos, Cowboys, etc.). Tap an odds line to add it to your bet slip. Enter your stake. Confirm. If your book required a qualifying bet for the welcome offer, this is the bet that triggers it.
Our suggestion for a first bet: a single moneyline or spread wager at -110 to -140 odds. Avoid a straight parlay as your first-ever bet, the variance is higher than the dopamine is worth while you're learning.
Step 8, Withdraw your winnings
When your bet settles and you want to take money off the platform, go to Account → Withdraw. Choose the method (usually the same one you deposited with, regulatory requirement to prevent money laundering). Typical timing:
- PayPal / Venmo: under 24 hours
- Debit card refund: 2-5 business days
- ACH bank transfer: 1-3 business days
- Online banking: 24-48 hours
Mistakes new Wyoming bettors make
- Betting before enabling location services. The app will simply refuse your wager with a vague error.
- Using a different name on KYC than on the payment method. This blocks your first withdrawal and takes days to resolve.
- Misreading bonus-bet fine print. Bonus bets usually return profit only, not stake. Plan accordingly.
- Chasing losses. Set deposit and loss limits at signup. Use them.
- Holding only one book. You'll leave real money on the table by not line-shopping. Open a second account within your first month.
Next steps
Once you're comfortable with the basics:
- Learn each bet type, especially moneylines, spreads, and totals.
- Explore specific sports markets, start with NFL or Wyoming Cowboys.
- Compare ongoing promos and decide whether to open a second book.
