307 Horse Racing opens its fall live meet

307 Horse Racing hosted its 2026 fall live race meet in August, generating $798,727.20 in live on-track handle. That is roughly half of 307's own June live-meet contribution ($1.62M), reflecting shorter August race-day scheduling. Combined with Wyoming Horse Racing's $201K debut, August live handle totaled $1.00M, down from July's $2.31M (which was driven by the Wyoming Downs Evanston summer meet).

307's August live meet distributions:

  • Payouts to bettors: $633,189
  • Takeout: $157,329
  • Breakage: $8,963
  • Wyoming Breeders' fund: $5,051
  • State (Live Sport Racing Account): $11,981

Wyoming Horse Racing posts its first-ever live handle

The notable structural data point: Wyoming Horse Racing, historically an HHR-only operator with no live racing footprint, reported $201,358.60 in live on-track handle for the first time ever in August 2026. That handle produced $42,739 in takeout, $156,587 in bettor payouts, and $3,020 to the state Live Sport Racing Account.

Wyoming Horse Racing has operated terminal-based HHR wagering since 2013 but has not previously hosted or taken reported live handle. August 2026 may mark the start of a strategic shift into live racing to compete with Wyoming Downs and 307. For bettors, this means a potential third Wyoming live venue in future meets. We will watch September and October reports for whether this is a one-month test or a durable expansion.

HHR steady at $250.7M, a stable floor

Historic Horse Racing terminal handle inched up to $250,741,977, a +0.6% MoM move from July's $249.4M. Over the summer HHR has settled into a $230M to $250M band, with June the low point ($229.7M) and July/August forming a stable higher plateau. HHR still represents 99.2% of total Wyoming horse racing handle when live and simulcast are included.

Operator breakdown for August HHR:

OperatorHandleSharePayout to bettors
Wyoming Horse Racing$117,203,64146.7%$106,285,533
Wyoming Downs$75,063,39329.9%$68,333,006
307 Horse Racing$58,474,94323.3%$52,475,721
Total$250,741,977100%$227,094,259

Share positions are stable compared to July: Wyoming Horse Racing slipped 1.3 points to 46.7%, 307 picked up 0.6 points, Wyoming Downs picked up 0.5 points.

State HHR takeout totaled $22,823,344, with $626,855 flowing to the state general fund and an equivalent amount to the Live Sport Racing Account. County and city distributions totaled $2.51M.

ADW handle grows another 8%, DraftKings continues to ramp

Advanced Deposit Wagering handle climbed from $450K in July to $487,402 in August, up 8.3% MoM. Gameplay extended its share to 68.0% ($331,678 handle). The notable story is DraftKings Horse Racing's third consecutive month of share growth, now at 7.4% ($36,188), up from 6.4% in July and 6.9% in its June launch.

NYRA Bets continues its post-Belmont fade (6.1% in June → 3.5% in July → 1.9% in August). The Saratoga meet, which runs through Labor Day, drove some NYRA ADW volume but far less than the Belmont Stakes week. Expect NYRA Bets share to pick back up around November Breeders' Cup week.

DraftKings Horse Racing is the structural story. Three consecutive months of share growth (6.9% → 6.4% → 7.4%) and 67% handle growth from June ($21,683) to August ($36,188) suggest DraftKings sportsbook customers are discovering the ADW crossover product on their own. This is organic growth, not a promotional spike.

Simulcast handle fades to $472K

Simulcast handle fell 13.9% MoM to $472,389, the lowest monthly total since March. Wyoming Horse Racing led simulcast at $303,899 (64.3%), Wyoming Downs $113,518, and 307 Horse Racing $54,972. The quieter mid-summer stakes calendar explains the dip; expect simulcast to recover into Breeders' Cup week in early November.

What to watch in September and October

  • Wyoming Horse Racing live-handle sustainability. Does August's $201K prove to be a one-off reporting entry, or does Wyoming Horse Racing continue to post live handle? September report answers.
  • 307 fall meet duration. 307's August live meet contributed $799K. Will the meet extend into September for additional handle?
  • Breeders' Cup setup. Breeders' Cup weekend (Oct 31-Nov 1 at Del Mar) is the fourth-largest handle event in US racing. Expect September and October ADW handle to begin ramping as customers deposit ahead of the stakes.
  • DraftKings ADW ramp. Three straight months of share growth. If September keeps the trend, DraftKings becomes a structural third place in Wyoming ADW behind Gameplay and TVG.
